SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service crashes on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 server when you start it or try to mount certain databases. Additionally, the following events are generated in Application log:


Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 9659
Description:
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store encountered an unexpected exception 0xC0000005 at address <address> while processing a request for user <NETWORK SERVICE account>.


Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchange Common
Event ID: 4999
Description:
Watson report about to be sent to dw20.exe for process id: <ID>, with parameters: E12N, c-rtl-AMD64, <version>, store.exe, exmime.dll, xxxx, c0000005, xxxx, <version>.


Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Exchange Server
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Faulting application store.exe, version <version>, stamp xxxx , faulting module exmime.dll, version <version>, stamp xxxx , debug? 0, fault address <address>.

CAUSE
This issue occurs because a certain "bad" message is located in a user's Outbox.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup: 
2407025 Description of Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
