When you press the CTRL key and drag the fill handle to autofill cells, the values in the destination cells do not increment.
When you autofill from a cell with Merge Cell formatting, values do notincrement when you press CTRL and drag the fill handle. Thisbehavior is the opposite of behavior exhibited by non-merged cells.
In order for the filled cells to increment as expected, use the fill handleon the merged cell but do not press CTRL.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
