When you initiate an action in Outlook that creates a connection to your SMTP e-mail server, such as sending mail, you may receive one of the following error messages depending on your e-mail server:

  2. On the Mail tab, click to select the account listed in the error message, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Advanced tab, for your Outgoing mail (SMTP), click to clear This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
