Toolbar Not Displayed in Full Screen Mode When Auto Hide Feature Is Enabled

Retired KB Content Disclaimer
This article was written about products for which Microsoft no longer offers support. Therefore, this article is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
When you are running Internet Explorer in Full Screen mode, you may be unable to display the toolbar.
This problem can occur if the Full Screen-mode toolbar is configured to hide automatically and you open a document that uses in-place activation.
To work around this problem, restore Internet Explorer to a windowed view temporarily, and then view a Web site other than the current document. To restore Internet Explorer to a windowed view:
  1. Press ALT+SPACEBAR to display the System menu.
  2. Click Restore.
To prevent the problem from occurring, you can turn off the Auto-Hide feature for the toolbar in Full Screen mode. To do this, right-click the toolbar when Internet Explorer is running in Full Screen mode, and then click Auto-Hide to remove the check mark.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
