Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
You have a SharePoint farm that contains two or more PowerPivot servers in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services. However, the PowerPivot workbooks are always loaded on the PowerPivot server that is last installed in the farm. You expect the workbook to be loaded in the PowerPivot server that has the most RAM available. This issue occurs either when you use the default round-robin or the server health allocation for the PowerPivot servers. Additionally, this issue occurs even when other PowerPivot servers have more free memory.
For example, consider the following scenario:
You install the PowerPivot for SharePoint component on two computers.
On the first computer, you create a new SharePoint farm by running the SQL Server 2008 R2 setup wizard. This computer has 3.5 GB of RAM available. A PowerPivot Gallery is created automatically in the SharePoint farm.
You configure the SharePoint farm to use server health allocation for client requests.
On the second computer, you join the SharePoint farm on the first computer. This computer has less than 1.6 GB of RAM available.
You create a PowerPivot workbook in Excel 2010 and upload the workbook to the PowerPivot gallery.
In this scenario, the workbook is loaded on the second computer. You expect the workbook to be loaded on the first computer.
