Consider the following scenario:
In this scenario, the following behavior occurs:
To confirm that the Office 2010 Professional trial version is installed, follow these steps:
1. Open a Microsoft Office program that is not a trial version, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft OneNote.
2. Click the File tab.
3. Click Help.
4. Under Trial Product, find Microsoft Office Professional 2010, and then click Licensing Operations.
5. Click Remove Trial.
The method that is described in the "Resolution" section removes the Office Professional 2010 trial entry from the Backstage view. The method also removes the related entries from the Programs menu on the Start menu.
After you follow the steps in the "Resolution" section, the 2010 trial versions of Outlook, of Access, and of Publisher are listed as Not Available in Office Maintenance mode. However, these steps do not remove the trial version entries in Add or Remove Programs for Office Home and Student 2010 or for Office Home and Business 2010.
To completely remove these trial versions from the computer, you must first temporarily uninstall Office Home and Student 2010 or Office Home and Business 2010. Then, during the reinstallation process, make sure that you click to clear the Include a free trial of Microsoft Office Professional 2010 check box. This check box is located in the installation window that has the Install now and Customize buttons, as the following picture shows:
