When you try to join a live audio or video broadcast using Windows Media Player, the following error message appears:
Could not connect to a multicast channel (Error=C00D07F2)
When Windows Media Player tries to connect to a live broadcast and does not receive a response within 20 seconds, it cancels the connection attempt. This usually indicates that your network may not be configured to handle a live broadcast protocol, known as multicast. Dial-up connections in particular often do not support this type of broadcast.
To resolve this issue, contact your network administrator to find out if your network is configured for multicast broadcasts. If you receive this error message from an Internet site, contact the site administrator. Internet servers should not be configured for multicast because Internet routers do not have multicast routing enabled.
