The status reason of the workflow remains Waiting when you run a workflow to send an email message from an email template in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:  
  • You are in an Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 environment.
  • You create a workflow that is based on a customer entity.
  • In the workflow, you add a Send Email step that uses an email template.
  • You run the workflow.
In this scenario, the status reason of the workflow remains Waiting. Additionally, the corresponding email message is not sent.
RESOLUTION
