Summary

This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 14, 2010.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you apply cell formatting to a PivotTable in Microsoft Office Excel 2007. After you reopen the workbook, you receive the following error message:

Excel found unreadable content in '<FileName>.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You have a PivotTable that has a page filter applied.

    • You perform a drillthrough by using the user interface or the object model.

    • You remove the page filter.

    • You perform a drillthrough again.

In this scenario, Office Excel 2007 crashes.

  • You create a workbook that contains an unlocked text box together with unlocked text on a protected worksheet by using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 In this situation, you cannot edit the unlocked text box in Office Excel 2003.

Note This issue may occur after you apply the hotfix package that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 971787.

  • Assume that you protect your workbook by using Rights Management Services. Additionally, this workbook also does not have the "Change" permissions and the Access content programmatically check box selected. When you save this workbook, Office Excel 2007 crashes.

  • Assume that you have a chart in a workbook that depends on a named range in another workbook. If you open the chart workbook without the linked source workbook, the chart is blank. If both workbooks are open and the linked source workbook is closed, the chart is blank.

  • When you open a workbook that contains more than 999 unnamed styles, you receive the following error message:

Excel found unreadable content in '<FileName>.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes.

  • In Office Excel 2007, when you link a cell that contains colored text in a shape, the resulting text color is ignored and always appears black.
