Outlook 2003: Adobe Convert to PDF or other add-in stops working after installing MS10-064

After installing the MS10-064 security update for Office Outlook 2003, dated September 14, 2010, the Adobe Convert to PDF or other custom applications or add-ins appear to stop functioning.
The MS10-064 security update (KB 2293428) exposes a problem with the MAPIOBJECT property of the AddressEntry object in the Outlook Object Model (OOM). The failure prevents a custom application or add-in that accesses the MAPIOBJECT property from functioning properly.

Some customers that reported this issue were using Adobe 9.0, CS4 Standard or Professional, or PDF Maker Plug-in. The add-in would hang at the "Conversion in process" status.
