Errors in Office Web Apps and SharePoint 2010 When Services Are Not Started

SYMPTOMS
When choosing to view or edit a PowerPoint presentation in the browser using Office Web Apps on SharePoint 2010 an error is returned

The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. 

When viewing or editing an Excel workbook in the browser using Office Web Apps on SharePoint 2010 an error is returned

A error has occurred.

Please Try again.

When viewing a Word document in the browser using Office Web Apps on SharePoint 2010 an error is returned

Word Web App cannot open this document for viewing because of an unexpected error. To view this document, open it in Microsoft Word.
CAUSE
The service for the PowerPoint service and Word viewing service is not started.
RESOLUTION
In SharePoint Central Administration, select System Settings, then under Servers section select . Select the following service list:

PowerPoint Service

Word Viewing Service


Check the Status and Action columns, if the status is set to Stopped, then click on Start in the Action column. In a Farm configuration with multiple load SharePoint Web Front end, you must start the service on server that is running the services.
