Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2011 Standard Setup may crash. When the crash occurs, Windows SBS Standard 2011 Setup exits, and the user sees the following window:
The Sbssetup.log file that is located at C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs contains the following error:

The issue can occur because of a timing problem during the setup process. Specifically, another process made a change to the Applicationhost.config file while the Windows SBS setup was trying to edit the same file.
Microsoft now has a utility that may complete the installation. However, the utility is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Use it only with systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
