You cannot delete an Outlook mailbox folder that begins with a special character in its name in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a folder by using Microsoft Outlook that is running in online mode in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.
  • The folder name begins with a special character. Specifically, the second byte of this character contains the 0x00 Unicode specification. For example, the folder name begins with the following character:
    刀(U+5200)
In this scenario, you cannot delete the mailbox folder.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because Exchange Server 2010 incorrectly handles Unicode characters that have 0x00 in the second byte.
