If your Windows 2000-based computer is configured with a 16-bit multiple-function PC Card adapter and placed in Hibernate mode after you disable the local area connection, the connection may not be re-enabled after you reinitialize the computer.
After you bring the computer out of Hibernate mode and then select the local area connection to re-enable it, you may see a dialog box that states "Enabling..." but then changes to "Connection Failed!" and closes.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.
