Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 update release.

Symptoms

When you open the Alert System page of the SQL Server Agent Properties dialog box in SQL Server 2008 R2, the Alert System page might incorrectly display that the Mail profile property is set to the first profile.

Notes

  • The value of the Mail profile property is applied if you click OK on the SQL Server Agent Properties dialog box. Therefore, the Mail profile property may be inadvertently set to the first profile.

  • The profiles are in alphabetical order in the combo box for the Mail profile property on the Alert System page.

Cause

This issue occurs because the combo box for the property always selects the first element as the item that appears selected.
