"LIVE gaming on Windows failed to initialize" error when you start Flight

SYMPTOMS
When you start Flight, you get the following error:
LIVE gaming on Windows failed to initialize. This may be because another LIVE Gaming on Windows application (such as Halo2 dedicated server) is running on the same machine. Otherwise, reinstalling the game may fix the problem.
CAUSE
A problem in the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant or Windows Live Essentials can affect Flight because the game uses Windows Live for online scenarios and interaction with other players.
THINGS TO TRY
To fix the error:
  1. Uninstall Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant or the Windows Live Essentials Suite.

    For Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
    1. Open Programs and Features in Control Panel.
    2. Find and select either of the following:
      • Windows Live Essentials 2011
      • Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant 6.5
    3. Click Uninstall, and then follow the instructions.

    For Windows XP:
    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
    2. Click Remove a Program.
    3. Find and select either of the following:
      • Windows Live Essentials 2011
      • Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant 6.5
    4. Click Remove, and then click OK.
  2. Reinstall the program that you just uninstalled.
