Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a WebDAV share on a web server that has Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 installed.

  • You set "client certificates" as the primary authentication method in ISA Server 2006, and you set "Windows authentication" as the secondary authentication method in ISA Server 2006.

  • You try to map a drive to the WebDAV share by using a computer that is running Windows 7.

  • The computer does not have a client certificate.

In this situation, you may be unable to map the drive to the WebDAV share. However, if you map the drive to the WebDAV share successfully, you cannot access the mapped drive. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

mapped drive letter:\ is not available
Mutual Authentication failed. The server's password is out of date at the domain controller.
