Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 hotfix package that is dated August 28, 2012.

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you configure validation rules in the validation settings for a field in a survey list. When the values in the field do not satisfy the validation rules, you receive a "Lists data validation failed" error message. However, you should receive a custom error message that you configured in the validation settings.

  • Assume that you select a document that contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters in a document library. When you click the Manage Copies button on the ribbon, you receive the following error message:

    Unexpected error

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You create a wiki page library in SharePoint Foundation 2010.

    • You enable the inline editing feature and the Group By feature in the view window of the wiki page library.

    • You expand the grouped category to view the page library.

In this scenario, all page view fields contain a red X.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You add a user account in a domain (domain A) to a SharePoint site in another domain (domain B).

    • You migrate the user account from domain A to domain B.

    • You disable the user account in domain B.

    • You use the People Picker control to search for the user account on the SharePoint site.

In this scenario, both the active user account and the disabled user account are displayed.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You create two custom lists (custom list 1 and custom list 2) on a SharePoint site.

    • You create the same list item in custom list 1 and custom list 2.

    • You create a workflow that includes two "Update List Item" actions to update the list item in custom list 2.

    • You associate the workflow with custom list 1.

    • You start the workflow in custom list 1.

In this scenario, the following error message is logged in the Unified Logging Service (ULS) log:

Save Conflict. Your changes conflict with those made concurrently by another user. If you want your changes to be applied, click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and resubmit your changes.

  • When you save a site template in SharePoint Foundation, the item level permissions for list settings are lost.

  • When a subsite owner clicks a user name on the People.aspx page in the _layouts directory, the subsite owner is denied access to the UserDisp.aspx page.

  • The load balancer uses the SortedDictionary structure as the data structure unexpectedly in SharePoint Foundation 2010.

  • When you add a comment to a blog post on a SharePoint site and then delete the comment, the blog post is removed from the site.

  • When you change the approval status for a reply in a discussion thread, an email message is sent that displays the title of the discussion thread incorrectly in the subject and heading.

  • When a SharePoint webpage contains a calendar web part and a Gantt view, the forward and back arrows in the calendar web part do not work.

  • When a list that contains more than 10,000 list items is associated with a workflow, it takes longer than expected to add a list item to the list.

  • When you try to crawl a SharePoint site that contains a Gantt chart, you receive the following error message:

The SharePoint item being crawled returned an error when attempting to download the item.

  • When you edit the master page of a source site collection and then start a content deployment import job, the content deployment import job fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

    FatalError: Value cannot be null.
    Parameter name: fileUrl

Note This issue occurs after you apply the SharePoint Foundation 2010  cumulative update that was released on April 24, 2012. For more information about this cumulative update, click the following article number:

2598321 Description of the SharePoint Foundation 2010 cumulative update package (SharePoint Foundation server-package): April 24, 2012

  • After you delete a SharePoint site that contains files that were edited many times, version histories of the files are not deleted from the database.

  • When you send an attachment in an MIME-formatted multipart email message, the attachment is not added to a document library.

  • Assume that you copy a document that has a multivalued lookup field from a document library to another document library. When you try to edit the lookup field in the copied version of the document, an error occurs.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You create a list that contains a lookup column that references the list.

    • You enable the content approval feature on the list.

    • You use the SPSiteDataQuery method to reference data from multiple lists. This includes the list that you created.

In this scenario, an error occurs.

  • When the versioning feature is enabled for a document library in SharePoint Foundation 2010, the Storage Metrics page displays the total size of the document incorrectly.

  • Assume that you add an event receiver to a content type on a SharePoint 2007 site and then upgrade the site to a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site. In this situation, you cannot delete the event receiver.

  • Assume that a SharePoint server is installed on a domain (domain A) that trusts another domain (domain B). Additionally, assume that domain A and domain B are in different subnets, and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) is not deployed. In this situation, you cannot add a user who is in domain B to the People Picker control on a SharePoint site.

  • When the recycle bin contains a deleted website, you cannot query features that are designed for online use in SharePoint Foundation 2010.

  • Assume that a SharePoint server hosts some groups that belong to recycled sites, and you delete the recycled site. In this situation, the groups that are associated with the sites are deleted, and users in the groups lose permissions on other sites that use the groups.

  • After you install the Norwegian, Finnish or Swedish language pack on a SharePoint Foundation 2010 server, you cannot create a name for a new webpage that exceeds 120 characters.

  • When the SPUserCodeWebPartRemoteExecutionHelper.cs:ExecuteRequestInSandBox() exception occurs, no log entry is logged in the Unified Logging Service (ULS) log.

  • Assume that you add HTML code that has invalid nested markup to an HTML rich-text editor. When you click Save or Edit in different locations, the rich-text editor starts to add empty lines to the content. Additionally, the only way to stop this behavior is to edit the markup manually in the source editor.

  • Assume that there are many servers that have trusts in a network. In this situation, it takes a long time to load the Central Administration site when you open the site after an application pool recycle. This behavior occurs because a call takes several minutes to search all the trusted domains.

  • When you add multiple items to custom SharePoint lists, the event receiver does not work. For example, the Sandbox service times out.

  • 2687375 "The list item could not be inserted or updated" error when you save SharePoint list items in SharePoint Foundation 2010
