Windows 2000 Callback May Not Work with Third-Party PPP Server Solution

SYMPTOMS
When you are using user-defined callback on a Windows 2000-based client with some third-party Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) server solutions, you may receive a "PPP 734" error message. The error message appears after you have accepted the callback number.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
   Date        Time   Size     File name    --------------------------------------   13/10/2000  15:25  197,392  Rasppp.dll				


STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
MORE INFORMATION
After you dial in and are prompted for your callback number, you should see a one-line dialog box that is either blank or contains a previous number. After you type your number and press ENTER, if necessary, the error message occurs. If you can monitor the state of the modem, you see that the callback has actually been initiated from the server, but the remote access functionality is no longer in a position to answer the call.
