Microsoft Reader: Cannot Read an eBook That You Purchased Online

When you open an eBook that you purchased online in Microsoft Reader forthe Pocket PC, you may experience either of the following symptoms:
  • You can view the title page, but all other pages are blank.
  • You receive an invalid format error message when you attempt to readbeyond the first page.
You may also see an error message similar to the following:
The following error occured. 0x80004005 (-2147467259) OKAY - fatal error occured.
This issue occurs because Microsoft Reader for the Pocket PC does notsupport the latest security technology for eBooks. The latest securityinnovations prevent eBook piracy, and require server-based activation.

At this time, only Microsoft Reader version 1.5 for desktop and laptopcomputers supports the latest security technology for eBooks.
To resolve this issue, obtain a software update for Microsoft Reader forthe Pocket PC when a software update becomes available from Microsoft.
