The Save As dialog box may intermittently not be displayed when you try to download a file in Internet Explorer 9

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
  • You use Windows Internet Explorer 9 to browse a webpage.
  • You click a link on the webpage to download a file, and then a new blank window or tab opens.
  • You click Save As in the download dialog box.

In this scenario, the Save As dialog box may intermittently not be displayed.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a race condition between the operation that opens the Save As dialog box and the operation that closes the new blank window or tab.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install this update.
