Assume that you try to open the Extensible Application Markup Language (XAML) file of a C++ project in the XAML Design view of Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. The project is configured for an x64-based platform. However, Visual Studio 2012 stops responding.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Exit Visual Studio 2012 if it is running.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
You do not have to restart your computer after you install this package.
To work around this issue, do not use the XAML Designer for x64-based platforms in C++ projects.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
XAML Designer in Visual Studio 2012 does not support projects that target x64-based platform. In most cases, XAML Designer displays a warning message when you try to open projects that are configured for x64-based platforms.
