Note This article also applies to Internet Information Services (IIS) URL Rewrite Module 2.0.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install IIS URL Rewrite Module 2.0 on a server that is running IIS 7.0 or IIS 7.5.

  • You configure an outgoing rule for a web application in IIS URL Rewrite Module.

  • A client request for content that uses chunked encoding is sent to the server.

  • The outgoing rule applies to the content.

In this scenario, the response from the server is corrupted. This corruption may cause various issues in web applications, depending on the content type of the corrupted response. For example, if the corruption affects HTML content, HTML pages may contain unexpected, random digits. Or, if the corruption affects JavaScript content, the web application may stop working.
