When you work with the DataSourceControl (DSC) of an Office Web Component, you may specify a CommandTimeOut value for the Connection object. When you then build a query or RecordsetDef based on the Connection object, your CommandTimeOut value is ignored. The operation times out at the default value of 30 seconds.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
To temporarily work around this problem, set the CommandTimeOut property for individual Command objects rather than for the Connection object.
