Supportability is available for Lync Server 2010 and Lync 2010 clients on Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows 8 client operating systems

Summary

This article describes the supportability for Microsoft Lync 2010 clients on Windows 8 client systems, and for Microsoft Lync Server 2010 server roles on a server that has the Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system installed. However, the following scenarios are currently not supported on a Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system:

  • Upgrading the operating system to Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 for an existing installation of Lync Server 2010 is not supported.
  • Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat Server is not supported on Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2.

Important

After you install Lync 2010 Server on Windows Server 2012, the Lync Server 2010 application pools are configured to use the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. However, the Lync Server 2010 application pools use the .NET Framework 2.0.

Windows 8
