Symptoms

A Hardware Inventory action does not inventory Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) applications in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
Additionally, the following entry is logged in the AssetAdvisor.log file:

Timed-out running "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\sfttray.exe" /exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\VAppCollector.exe" /quiet /launch "<application being inventoried>"This issue occurs when you have the following updates installed on the computer:

Cause

This issue occurs because the VAppCollector.exe process exceeds the 30-second time-out period. In this situation, no App-V application is reported during the Hardware Inventory action.

Note This issue occurs only when version 4.6487.2198 of VAppCollector or a later version of VAppCollector is installed.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following hotfix on the primary site role and client role of System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2. To resolve this issue on the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 client, first install the following hotfix package on the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 primary site server. Then, deploy the package that the primary site server generates to the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 client.
