WD2000: General Protection Fault Error Message When You Format Columns

SYMPTOMS
When you click Columns on the Format menu, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Winword caused a General Protection Fault in Module Winword.exe at 016f:304895db
CAUSE
The problem can occur when you open the Columns dialog box repeatedly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
