When the UNIX/Linux client for Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 (SP1) is targeted with Software Inventory policies, the UNIX/Linux client does not request policy, and Client Activity changes to Inactive. Additionally, you see the following error message in the Scxcm.log file:
ATTEMPT TO EXECUTE A FILE SYSTEM INVENTORY CYCLE HAS BEEN TRAPPED
This issue occurs because the version of the client that is being used does not process Software Inventory correctly.
To resolve this issue, install the updated UNIX/Linux client software (build version 220.127.116.1114 or a later build) from the following Microsoft website:

To work around this issue, you can disable Software Inventory policies for UNIX/Linux clients by using Custom Client Device Settings. This enables you to continue using the older client version.
