Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Outlook 2010 hotfix package that is dated August 13, 2013.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • You connect to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 mailbox by using Microsoft Outlook 2010. When you enable the feature that lets you view the online archive of a manager in Outlook 2010, two online archives that have the same name are displayed.

Note To resolve this issue, you must also have Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3) Update Rollup 2 installed. To download Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 2, go to the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39835For more information about Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 2, go to the following website:

2866475 Description of Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3

  • When archive and retention policies are configured for a mailbox, it takes longer than expected to start Outlook 2010.

  • When you expand an Online Archive folder in a mailbox in Online mode in Outlook 2010, you receive the following error message:

Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the exchange server is down for maintenance.

  • Assume that you configure a download header only for items in an IMAP account in Outlook 2010. Then, you send an email message that contains a large attachment, and the background synchronization process starts. When you open the email message, duplicate attachments are displayed.

  • When you synchronize Outlook 2010 with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, an alternative URL is used instead of the primary URL.

  • When you apply a retention policy for a calendar item in Outlook 2010 in cached mode, the retention date of the item is calculated incorrectly.

  • Outlook 2010 crashes randomly.

  • When you start Outlook 2010 on a computer and then try to set up a new account for the first time, it takes 3-5 minutes to populate your username or email address on the home screen.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You add an attachment to an email message that you want to forward in Outlook 2010.

    • The email message contains an inline image.

    • You add a signature that contains a hyperlink to the draft of the email message.

    • You save the draft of the email message.

    • You add another attachment to the draft of the email message.

In this situation, the attachment does not appear in the draft.

  • Assume that you install update 2687623 for Outlook 2010. When you use the Exchange Management tools to export a mailbox, you receive error code 2147221233.  For more information about the update 2687623, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

2687623 Description of the Outlook 2010 update: November 13, 2012

  • When you press CTRL+N to create a new advanced search in the Advanced Find dialog box in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2010 crashes.
