This issue will take place under the folowing circumstances:
The ShowSharepointPhotoEditLink parameter in Lync client policy that applies to the affected user(s) is set to false
Note By default the ShowSharepointPhotoEditLink parameter of the Lync client policy is set to False. When the ShowSharepointPhotoEditLink parameter of the Lync client policy is set to True the Lync user will be able to edit the personal photo stored on their Microsoft SharePoint My Site.
Using Server 2008 or Server 2008 R2
Using Server 2012
To locate the Lync client policy that applies to the affected user run the following PowerShell cmdlet:
Get-CSUser -identity <user alias>
Run the following PowerShell cmdlet to enable the Lync ShowSharepointPhotoEditLink feature for the Lync client policy:
Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity < value> -ShowSharepointPhotoEditLink $True
Note The identity parameter in the Set-CsClientPolicy may differ as this value depends on the client policy that applies to the affected users
