Important: In Excel for Microsoft 365 and Excel 2021, Power View is removed on October 12, 2021. As an alternative, you can use the interactive visual experience provided by Power BI Desktop, which you can download for free. You can also easily Import Excel workbooks into Power BI Desktop.
This hotfix also applies to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014).
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You have Microsoft Analysis Services 2012 (SSAS 2012) or Analysis Services 2014 (SSAS 2014) installed on a computer.

You run a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) query against an SSAS Multidimensional model in Power View.

The DAX query contains an ORDER BY clause that references a dimension attribute. Additionally, the dimension attribute contains an unknown member.
In this scenario, CPU spinning occurs, and the query never finishes running. More specifically, 100 percent of CPU resources are used.
Resolution
The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.
Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2014 /en-us/help/2931693
Cumulative update 6 for SQL Server 2012 SP1 /en-us/help/2874879
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
