This article describes an update that includes the August 2013 cumulative time zone update for Windows CE 5.0. This update changes the time zone data to accommodate daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries.

This update includes the following changes:
  • Libya Standard Time:
    DST starts on the last Friday of March at 02:00 and ends on the last Friday of October at 02:00. These new DST rules were introduced from 2013, and a new dedicated time zone was also added (UTC+1 Tripoli) (KB 2795260).
  • Israel Standard Time:
    DST starts on the Friday before the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October at 02:00. This new DST rule is applicable from 2013 to 2023.
  • Pacific S.A. Standard Time:
    DST ends on April 27, 2013 and starts on September 7, 2013. This change is for 2013 only (KB 2826771).
  • Paraguay Standard Time:
    DST ends on March 23, 2013. This change incorporates the shortened DST rules for Paraguay in 2013 (KB 2828889).
  • Morocco Standard Time:
    The change in the August DST cumulative update will account only for History Correction after the DST 2013 Ramadan fix-it solution that is shipped in June 2013 (KB 2739152).

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded CE 5.0 Platform Builder Monthly Update (August 2013). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section of this article. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. The package file name format is:
Product version-yymmdd-kbnnnnnn-processor type

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • Method 1:
    On the Build OS menu, make sure that the following options are selected, and then click Sysgen:
    • Clean Before Building
    • Copy Files to Release Directory After Build
    • Make Run-Time Image After Build
  • Method 2:
    On the Build OS menu, click Open Release Directory. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter:

    blddemo clean -q
