Event 2112 or 2180 is logged when you try to back up a database in an Exchange Server 2013 environment

Symptoms
When you try to back up a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 database by using a third-party product or Windows Server Backup, the backup operation fails. Additionally, one of the following events is logged in the Application log:

Description:
The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer instance 'GUID' failed with error code 0x80070015 when preparing for a backup of database 'DatabaseName'.

Description:
The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer could not obtain the log file signature for database 'DatabaseName'. The msexchangerepl service may need to be restarted and the backup retried after all copies reach a stable mounted or healthy state.


Cause
This issue occurs because an internal structure is not initialized properly in Exchange 2013.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update: 
2892464 Description of Cumulative Update 3 for Exchange Server 2013
