When you try to run a synchronization to work offline, the following error message appears:
Operation failed.
You may receive several error messages telling you that Microsoft Outlook cannot synchronize. If you click Ignore for each message, eventually an error message states that the operation has failed and Outlook will shut down.
This problem occurs when data in the Inbox, Deleted Items, and Sent Items folders exceeds the permissible amount set by your mail administrator.
To work around this problem, clean out the Outlook folders to reduce their size, and then press F9 to synchronize again.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
