When you choose to do a custom installation of Microsoft Visio 2002 with all Add-ons marked as "install on first use", and you attempt to edit an embedded AutoCad (CAD) object, the following error message may appear:
NOTE: The embedded object may not be visible. It may appear as a blank selection in the drawing.
Error 1415: Visio is unable to edit the Unknown object.
In order to display and work with inserted AutoCad (CAD) objects in Microsoft Visio 2002, you must install the CAD Drawing component.
Run the Visio 2002 Setup program in Maintenance Mode, and install the CAD Drawing files. To do this, used the appropriate method for your operating system.
Method 1: Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), or Windows NT 4.0
Method 2: Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
