Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2012 or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2014 installed in a computer.

  • You use dtexec.exe to execute a SSIS package with /config parameters. For example, dtexec /F "C:\temp\Package.dtsx" /config config1.dtsconfig /config config2.dtsconfig.

  • One of the configuration files specified in /config parameter does not exist.

In this scenario, the dtexec command fails and the package cannot be executed. You receive the following error:

DTExec: Could not import the configuration file <ConfigurationFileName>.

The behavior in earlier versions of SQL Server is different. It does not fail and the package is executed with the following warning (0x80012014):

Description: The configuration file "<ConfigurationFileName>" cannot be found. Check the directory and file name.
