Lativian Currency Change

Summary
This article describes the steps required to change from the original Latvian currency to the Euro. The products covered are Microsoft Project Standard for Office 365, Microsoft Project Standard for Office 365, Microsoft Project Standard 2010/2013 and Microsoft Project Professional 2010/2013. Project Client will be used as collective term for the Microsoft Office Project product family. In place of a downloadable patch, a set of prescribed user steps is supplied below.
More information
On January 1st 2014, Latvia officially changed its currency the Lat to the Euro. The switch over in the currency brings with it a change to the symbol (€) and ISO code (EUR). Project Client takes its currency settings from the Operating System locale and Regional settings, storing it the GLOBAL.MPT or a user created project file (.MPP). It is important to note that across Microsoft Windows Operating System versions, there are different entry points for setting language settings. Some of these directly affect the default currency settings of Project Client will get from the Operating System. The differences are tabulated under More Information. Those differences impact the steps you will need to take when adjusting to the new Euro currency.

You are using Project Client on Windows 8/8.1 with your region and/or system locale set to Latvian:
  • Set your Region or System Locale to Latvian
  • Open your Project file
  • Follow the normal steps for creating a new project
  • Select File
  • From the Outspace, select Options
  • In the Options dialog select Display on the left
  • Under Currency options for this project, the Symbol and Currency will be set to EUR in Windows 8.1 and LVL in Windows 8.0 respectively.

  If you are opening an existing project created outside of Windows 8/8.1, do the following:
  • Set your Region or System Locale to Latvian
  • Open your Project file
  • Select File
  • From the Outspace, select Options
  • In the Options dialog select Display on the left
  • If the currency and symbol are not € and EUR respectively, select the currency EUR from the currency dropdown control and the currency symbol will be changed to €
 You are using Project Client on a version of Windows prior to Windows 8/8.1 with your region and/or system locale set to Latvian:
  • Ensure your Region and or System Locale are set to Latvian
  • Open your Project file
  • Select File
  • From the Outspace, select Options
  • In the Options dialog select Display on the left
  • If the currency and symbol are not € and EUR respectively, select the currency EUR from the currency dropdown control and the currency symbol will be changed to €
Templates
There are no translated Latvian versions of Project Client templates available from Office 365. Downloadable templates will be in English and will contain the U.S currency symbol ($) and ISO (USD).
