More information
Visio uses the Arial TrueType font by default. You can modify the Visio.ini file if you want to change the default font to another TrueType font.

To change the default font, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio 5.0.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Developer Settings, click to select the Put All Settings in Visio.ini File check box, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Visio.
  5. Start Visio and then quit Visio again.

Visio writes its settings to the Visio.ini file.
  6. Open the Visio.ini file in Microsoft NotePad.

The default location of the Visio.ini file is the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Visio\System
  7. In Notepad, on the Search menu, click Find.
  8. In the Find dialog box, type DefaultFontName, and then click Find Next.
  9. Type the TrueType font name to the right of the equal sign. For example, edit the line to read as follows:
  10. On the File menu, click Save. Then, quit Notepad.
The next time you start Visio, the default font is set to the TrueType font that you specified in step 9.

NOTE: If Arial continues to appear as the default font, the font name specified in step 9 is not correct, or the font is not installed on your system. To check what TrueType fonts are available in Visio, click Text on the Format menu, and examine the Fonts list.
