BUG #: 351337 (SHILOH_BUGS)
When you try to configure a Distributor, the following error message occurs:
SQL Server Enterprise Manager could not configure 'TESTSERVER' as the Distributor for 'TESTSERVER'.Error 21112: '-PollingInterval' is not a valid parameter for the Log Reader Agent
With a Turkish collation or code page, a lower case "I" yields an undotted "i" unlike the Latin lower case dotted "i".
When you configure the Distributor, the sp_MSvalidate_agent_parameter stored procedure checks to see if the parameter passed is "pollinginterval" (with a dotted "i"). When you apply the Lower function to the string
the capital "I" in the "PollingInterval" string returns the string "pollinginterval" with an undotted "i", which is not equal to the string "pollinginterval" with a dotted i. Therefore, an error message occurs that states -PollingInterval is not a valid parameter. Because the strings do not match, replication fails on any server with a Turkish collation.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:
290211 INF: How to Obtain the Latest SQL Server 2000 Service Pack
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
If you use Transact-SQL to configure the Distributor, the error message that occurs is:
Server: Msg 21112, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSvalidate_agent_parameter, Line 72'-PollingInterval' is not a valid parameter for the Log Reader Agent.
