An update is available that fixes an issue in the release of Microsoft Silverlight 5 for Macintosh (MS14-014) from March 11, 2014. This update applies to any Macintosh OS X operating systems that are supported by Microsoft Silverlight. It does not require a previous installation of Microsoft Silverlight.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer to complete this installation.

Every version of Microsoft Silverlight 5 for Macintosh includes a self-updater that can periodically scan Microsoft.com for the latest updates to the Silverlight plugin. If the self-updater is enabled and detects the new version, the plugin prompts the user to download and install the update.

The latest version of Microsoft Silverlight 5 is installable from the Get Microsoft Silverlight page.

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
