When you use the Yammer App for SharePoint in Microsoft SharePoint 2013 or Microsoft SharePoint Online, you receive the following error message:
This page or app is using an unsupported version of the Yammer platform. Contact your site admin to ask them to update the page.
Note The Yammer Web Part for SharePoint 2010 will be discontinued and will stop working on March 15, 2016. Yammer Embed will be our single solution to integrate Yammer feeds into SharePoint. We strongly suggest that you don't deploy the Web Part any longer, and start using Yammer Embed now.
Check whether an update is available. To do this, follow these steps:
Browse to the SharePoint site that contains the Yammer App for SharePoint.
Click the gear icon for the Settings menu, and then click Site Contents.
Note If you have an Office 365 Small Business account, click Site Contents.
Locate the Yammer App for SharePoint, and then click update.
Repeat these steps for each SharePoint site for which you’re the site owner.
If you don’t see the update link on the Yammer App for SharePoint, follow these steps:
Click the ellipsis (…) next to the Yammer App for SharePoint.
Click About to update the app.
After the update process is complete, click the ellipsis (…) next to the Yammer App for SharePoint to make sure that the version is greater than 126.96.36.199.
Configure the Yammer app for SharePoint. Choose the kind of feed that you want to add:
Group Feed: Choose this feed type to display all Yammer conversations for this group. You must know the network name and the Yammer group ID to configure this feed type.
Network name: To locate this information, sign in to Yammer.com, and then browse to the URL. Your network name is the unique name of your Yammer network. For example, if your URL is displayed as "https://yammer.com/contoso.com," your network name is "contoso.com."
Group ID: To locate this information, sign in to Yammer.com, and then browse to the group. Review the URL address for the page that you’re on. The group ID is a set of digits at the end of the URL. Look for …group&feedID=1111111. The 1111111 part of this address is the group ID.
Home Feed: Choose this feed type to display all Yammer conversations that you’re following for this network. If you’re joined to more than one network, you have to select the Yammer network that you want to see in the feed. By default, your Home network is selected. Enter the name of the desired network to configure the Home feed.
Comment Feed: Choose this feed type to display all conversations that people post about this SharePoint page. Copy the URL of the host SharePoint page, and then paste the URL into the Host Page URL field.
This issue occurs because the Yammer App for SharePoint (version 188.8.131.52) was updated to remove the requirement that the admin has to sign in and configure the app. The update also introduces some security improvements. All versions of the Yammer App for SharePoint earlier than or equal to 184.108.40.206 must be updated to function correctly.
