This behavior is by design. The default timeout for obtaining a row count on the fact table is three minutes. The timeout interval for obtaining a row count on the fact table is a registry setting that can be changed by the user.
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To set the timeout interval for obtaining a row count to four minutes, follow these steps:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate and click the following key in the registry:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\OLAP Server\Olap Manager Info
- On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:Value name: CountQueryTimeout
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: click Decimal
Value data: 240
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Stop and then restart the MSSQLServerOLAPService Service
