All about the MSN Health & Fitness app



Change the language and region


For the Windows app:
  1. While using the app, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)
  2. Tap or click Options, and then choose a country and language combination.
  3. Close and open the app.
For the Windows Phone app:
  1. Tap  at the bottom of any screen and choose Settings.
  2. Under options, choose a country and language combination.
  3. Close and open the app.

Search and browse the app


For the Windows app:
  1. Enter what you're looking for in the search field at the upper-right corner in of any page. You can also start typing anywhere inside the app and your search terms will automatically appear in the search field.

    Based on your search term, you'll either get results across four areas (Fitness, Nutrition, Medical, and Articles/News) in a generic search results page or a more detailed experience via a dedicated browse page. For example, searching for the word "heart" would show generic search results across the four areas, whereas searching for "barbell front split squat" would result in a dedicated fitness browse experience.
  2. On browse pages, refine your search results using filters.
  3. Swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click the Home page and select from one of the multiple tiles in the top header.
  4. Swipe right across the home panorama and choose from a rich collection of showcased content.
  5. Tap or click a particular tile in the QUICK ACCESS bar.
For the Windows Phone app:

About personalizing the MSN Health & Fitness app

Sync app data across your phones and PCs:

For the Windows app:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed. To check if you do, go to the Windows Store on your device and install any updates for the MSN Health & Fitness app.
  2. Connect the app to your Microsoft account. To do this, swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or press Windows logo key‌ +C on your keyboard), and then tap or click Account.
    • If the app isn't connected to your Microsoft account, tap Connect and follow the steps on the screen. 
    • If the app is already connected to your Microsoft account, you'll see your account details here and don't need to do anything.

Note: When you connect the MSN Health & Fitness app to your Microsoft account, the app will take a few minutes to sync data on the device with the cloud. This is a one-time process and you'll need to be connected to the Internet for this.

For the Windows Phone app:

Tap and then tap Microsoft account and tap the Connect tile.

Track exercise info in the cardio tracker


In the Windows Phone app, the cardio tracker is on the home page. You can even track your workout with GPS.

For the Windows app:
  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, and then select Cardio Tracker under the Trackers section.
  2. Tap or click + CARDIO EXERCISE.
  3. Choose an exercise from your favorites list or enter an exercise name in the search box and choose from the suggestions. You can also press Enter for more results.
  4. Modify the distance, duration, and calorie info for the exercise by updating values in the text boxes. Tap or click Done to add selected exercise(s) to the tracker.

Identify conditions using the symptom checker

In the Windows Phone app, swipe to the medical section and tap Interactive Symptom Checker.

For the Windows app:
  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, and then select Symptom Checker from the list.
  2. Tap or click the Gender drop down to choose the appropriate human body model that most closely resembles the person with the symptoms. This helps in displaying a more relevant set of symptoms based on the model chosen.
  3. Tap or click a relevant body part or choose from Non-specific symptoms.
  4. Tap or click one or multiple symptoms from the list of symptoms.
  5. Tap or click Symptoms within the second level of symptoms to refine the list of possible conditions. Choose a condition from the final list of conditions to read and understand more about it.

Use the 3D human body to find a body part

  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, and then select 3D Human Body from the list.
  2. Choose the appropriate gender of the human model by tapping the gender icon under the human body.
  3. Choose the relevant organ system such as the nervous system or the muscular system if required, based on what you're searching for.
  4. Rotate and scroll to the relevant portion of the body. You can also tap or click a particular region to zoom in.
  5. Tap or click a particular body part or organ to highlight it and view the related article with more info on it.
  6. You can additionally use the Related Anatomy and the Related Systems tabs to view related articles.
  7. At any point, you can refresh the view to default by tapping or clicking the refresh button under the human body.

About tracking blood pressure, cholesterol, and vaccinations

  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, select Trackers, and then select Diet Tracker.
  2. Tap or click Find your recommended daily calorie target to open the Personalize pane.
  3. In the Personalize pane, complete the My Profile and My Calorie Target sections to get your recommended daily calorie target based on your weight goal or set a custom calorie target of your choice.
  4. Tap or click outside the Personalize pane and your customized calorie target will be updated.

Find and add foods in the Diet Tracker

  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, select Trackers, and then select Diet Tracker.
  2. Add a food item under the relevant food section by tapping or clicking + FOOD
  3. Search for foods by typing your query in the search box. Choose an option from the list of suggestions or press Enter for more results.
  4. After you've added a few food items to the Diet Tracker, use the Recent and Favorite tabs to add foods more quickly.
  5. Add custom foods using the Custom tab.
  6. Tap or click Done to add selected food item(s) to the tracker.

Add custom foods and details to the existing list of food items

In the Windows Phone app, you must select foods based on search results.

For the Windows app:
  1. Swipe down from the top edge or right-click, and under the section Trackers, select Diet Tracker.
  2. Add a food item under the relevant food section.
  3. Scroll to the custom tab in the Add Food section.
  4. Tap or click the Enter Custom Food header in that section. Another option is to search for a food, press Enter, and then tap or click Add this as a custom food at the end of the search results.
  5. Enter the custom food details including Food Name, Serving Size and Calories contained.
  6. Tap or click Save. The custom food should now show under the Custom tab.
