In a PowerPoint presentation, when you try to insert a movie from a file, you may receive the following error message:
PowerPoint found an error that it can't correct. You should save presentations, exit, and then restart PowerPoint.
This issue may occur if the [mci extensions] section of the Win.ini file contains more than 42 entries.
To resolve this issue, reduce the number of entries in the [mci extensions] section of the Win.ini file to 42 or fewer. To do this, follow these steps:
Start Microsoft Notepad, and then open the Win.ini file, which is typically found in the C:\Windows folder.
Scroll down until you find the [mci extensions] section.
At the beginning of each entry that you want to disable, type a semicolon (;). This prevents that entry from being processed when the computer starts. Repeat this step until there are 42 or fewer entries in the [mci extensions] section.
