Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run a transaction by using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 that is delivered with Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013.

  • Connection pooling is enabled.

  • The Units of Work property is set to DUW for distributed transactions.


In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:

"Failed to get connection from pool", SQLCODE = -7049, SQLSTATE = HY000


Note You will receive this error message even if there should be free connections in the pool.

Cause

The Max Pool Size property is incorrectly handled by the OLE DB Provider for DB2 if distributed transactions are used.

Resolution

The fix for this problem is included in cumulative update package 3 for Host Integration Server 2013. For more information about how to get the cumulative update package, see Cumulative update package 3 for Host Integration Server 2013.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
