Symptoms

When you use server-side synchronization (SSS) to synchronize items (such as mails, contacts, tasks, and appointments) to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment, Dynamics CRM 2013 stops working.

Cause

This issue occurs because the corrupted time zone definition of the appointment that is returned in XML format generates a System.ArgumentException exception in EWS Managed API, and this exception causes Dynamics CRM 2013 to stop working.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install Cumulative Update 9 for Exchange Server 2013.

Workaround

To work around this issue, capture the XML response by using the advanced tracing tool such as Fiddler or ETL, identify the problematic appointment by manually filtering the XML which contains 1000 messages, then delete the appointment from the mailbox.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
