You receive a "Stop error code 0x000000E3" error message in Windows 2000

Symptoms
You may receive a "Stop 0x000000E3" error message on a blue screen.
Cause
This error message is caused by a resource being freed twice in Ntfs.sys.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
   Date         Time   Version        Size     File name   -----------------------------------------------------   30-Nov-2001  01:13  5.0.2195.4712  513,072  Ntfs.sys				

Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
