Important update on the MSN apps and MSN.com website

Three of our MSN apps will be discontinued this fall along with some features on the MSN Food & Drink and MSN Health & Fitness websites.

If you have stored any of your data in the apps or on the affected websites, please read important instructions below to retrieve that data before the apps and features are discontinued and your data is no longer accessible.

MSN Food & Drink, MSN Health & Fitness and MSN Travel apps will be discontinued:

  • The MSN Food &Drink app on Windows, iOS and Android devices will be discontinued on September 28, 2015. 
  • The MSN Health & Fitness app on Windows, iOS and Android devices will be discontinued on November 1, 2015.
  • The MSN Travel app will be discontinued on September 28, 2015. 

You’ll still find a wealth of content in the Health & Fitness, Travel and Food & Drink sections of the MSN.com website. Here you'll find the latest news and special features for all three of these interests.

MSN Food & Drink and MSN Health & Fitness website changes:

  • The Shopping List and Collections features on the MSN Food & Drink website will be discontinued on September 28, 2015.
  • The Diet Tracker and Cardio Tracker on the MSN Health & Fitness website will be discontinued on November 1, 2015.

How to keep your data:

Once these apps and MSN website features are discontinued, the information you've stored in them will no longer be available.  If you'd like to keep your data, please take a few moments before the discontinuation date to store it elsewhere. This data includes the following:
  • MSN Health & Fitness: Diet Tracker, Cardio Tracker, Pedometer and Favorites
  • MSN Travel: Favorites 
  • MSN Food & Drink: Shopping List, Collections, Meal Plans and any personal recipes you have added

How to save your data from the MSN Health & Fitness app:

Tips on saving MSN Travel app data: 

If you have Favorites in the MSN Travel App, it may be easiest for you to create a new list elsewhere with the names of those destinations and hotels. 

Clicking through your Favorites will take you to Bing search results for those destinations and hotels. You could also bookmark those search results pages for future reference.

How to save MSN Food & Drink data: 

From your app
For Windows 8.1 users:

You can save recipe collections (including recipes that you've added yourself), shopping lists, and meal plans from the F&D app. Start with any recipe, shopping list, or meal plan that you want to keep and follow the steps below.
How to save your user added recipes, collections, shopping lists, and meal planner items to an XPS document
You can manually export your items to an XPS document. XPS documents can be viewed on any Windows computer. You will have to do this for each of your items. 
    1. Navigate to the item you wish to export.
    2. Select the print button from the action bar at the bottom of the screen. If no bar is present, press the right mouse button to make this appear.
    3. Select Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
    4. Press the print button in the print preview panel.
Your item will be saved into your Documents folder.
 How to save links to all other recipes 
The Collections feature provide a set of bookmarks to favorite recipes. The destinations for these bookmarks will be removed in September 2015, but some content will still be accessible from our partners' websites. You can find links to the recipes and wine listings with the following steps.
  1. Navigate to the recipe or wine listing you wish to keep.
  2. Press the Windows logo key + C to open the Charms Bar and select share.
  3. Select Mail from the available options and follow the prompts to compose and send your email.
  4. Click the link in the email.
If the link takes you to a site other than MSN, you can bookmark the web address using the bookmarking feature of your web browser.

You can also print recipes you wish to keep, by following the steps listed in ‘how to save your recipes, shopping lists, and meal planner items to an XPS document’

For Windows Phone, iOS and Android users: 

You can save your recipe collections and shopping lists using the steps below. Go to the recipe collection or shopping list that you want to save and follow the steps below.
  1. Select the Share button from the action bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select mail from the available options and follow the steps shown on the email pane.

You can save your shopping lists and recipe collections from the F&D app by going to the item you want to keep and following the steps below. 

How to save a paper copy of your items
  1. Navigate to the item you wish to print.
  2. Select Print.
How to email your items
  1. Navigate to the item you wish to email.
  2. Select Email to send a copy to your email account.

How to save your collections: 

The Collections feature provide a set of bookmarks to favorite recipes. The destinations for these bookmarks will be removed in September 2015, but some content will still be accessible from our partners' websites. You can find links to the recipes and wine listings with the following steps.
  1. Navigate to the recipe or wine listing you wish to keep.
  2. Select Mail from the available options and follow the prompts to compose and send your email.
  3. Click the link in the email.
If the link takes you to a site other than MSN, you can bookmark the web address using the bookmarking feature of your web browser. Save these URLs in your browser favorites.

You can also print recipes you wish to keep by clicking the Print icon in the available choices and select Microsoft XPS document.
