Runtime Error When You Browse to Some Web Pages
This article was written about products for which Microsoft no longer offers support. Therefore, this article is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
When you attempt to browse to various Web sites, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?
Error: Permission Denied.
This behavior can occur if you upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1). The upgrade enables the script-debugging and script-error-notification options.
: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
To resolve this issue, disable the script-debugging and script-error-notification options. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click to select the Disable script debugging check box.
- Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
