TPM 2.0 device may be missing on Server 2012

Symptoms
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 hardware may not get detected on Windows Server 2012 installations. The TPM 2.0 device will not be listed in Device Manager. You may also see an Event Log entry with the following message.

A compatible TPM is not found.
Cause
This issue can occur if the TPM 2.0 hardware uses a revision number of 4 of the ACPI table for TPM 2.0 as specified by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Specification.
